“I was told by a long time friend and fellow Combat Vet about Reserve Aid about two weeks ago.  I was medically retired from the U.S. ARMY on January 11, 2007.  While in Iraq, I was injured in combat twice awarding me two Purple Heart’s.  From the day I was discharged until now, I have been struggling to make ends meet.  I am currently getting my background checked to become a Correctional Officer like my father-in-law and it should be completed in approximately 90 days.  Reserve Aid helped me and my family with several high bills we have.  Such as our car payment and three credit card bills we had to use frequently since my discharge.  My family and I really appreciate this help at our most desperate time. I feel this is not a hand out but a much needed tool to help our Vet’s who have deserved to get back on their feet.  To the men and women who donate their hard earned money and time, I would like to give a VERY BIG THANK YOU FROM ME AND ALL THE OTHER VET’S YOU HAVE AND WILL HELP.  I’m a firm believer in karma and you outstanding citizen’s will be paid back ten fold one day.  YOU PEOPLE ARE MY HERO’S.”

“Words can never fully express our gratitude for all you’ve done for us.  All the nights laying awake thinking of ways to keep our nose above water financially during my husband’s Hospital trials are now over!  Please pass our thanks to the soldiers who went to Iraq and came back to raise funds for their Comrades at Arms.  So many soldiers bury themselves in alcohol and/or drugs to foreget.  These men took the experience and got to work to do something about the problems for the soldiers coming home behind them.  Again, please tell them how Blessed they have made our hard life and that if we can do anything to help with this project, we are here for them.  Thank you all for your efforts and struggles in our behalf.”

“Due to my injuries I sustained in Iraq, I have not been able to work.  With no income, I needed assistance with my bills (mortgage & car payment) and groceries.  I have requested assistance from other organizations with no luck.  I felt no hope and was depressed that I could not provide for my family. “There are not enough words to describe how much a blessing Reserve Aid has been during my crisis.  After returning, my financial problems brought me to a point of being among the statistical homeless.  No address, no money, no guarantee of my next meal.  My “angel” came in the form of a very compassionate woman named Naomi Esau.  Her kindness and understanding made me feel as though everything was going to be alright.  After sleeping in a church for a week, Naomi arranged for me to stay in a comfortable hotel while I looked for an affordable room.  She also sent a Walmart gift card that I used for clothes and food, and paid two months rent in advance to my temporary landlords.  Things are beginning to fall into place as my new job (along with fees from my part-time job as a State Certified Baseball Umpire) is contributing toward financial recovery.  No, there are not enough words to describe the blessings, nor are there adequate words to describe my gratitude.  Serving the Country was one thing, not being forgotten for it is another.  My heartfelt thanks to Naomi Esau, Mike Ali, Reserve Aid, and the behind the scene Sponsors whose hearts can never be anonymous to an almighty God who sees it all.  God Bless every one of you!”

“Reserve Aid is a wonderful organization.  I was a Reservist who was re-called to work on General Kelley’s staff in Baghdad.  During my second tour in Iraq, I came into contact with something causing huge health problems.   I had a heart attack in combat which paralyzed my left side.   In February, I was comatose for two weeks, on life support for three days, my lungs filled with water, my blood went septic, I developed seizure disorders, my kidneys shut down, and more.  Once again, I found myself in a fight where my life was at stake.  After beating this initial ordeal, I had to go to rehabilitation to learn how to do everything from walking/speaking, to occupational functions over again.  The help from Reserve Aid has made the fight easier because I don’t have to struggle over my family’s financial well being.  I can concentrate on my rehab. Without the help of Reserve Aid, my family and I would have not been able to continue in our every day lifes.”
